The fence itself doesn't require a building consent, but it must pass a pool fencing inspection by your local council (Auckland Council in most cases). We install to NZS 8500 and our installations consistently pass inspection. We can advise you on the inspection process.
Yes, with appropriate planning. Frameless spigot systems can be stepped to accommodate a slope, maintaining the minimum 1.2m height requirement. For very steep grades, semi-frameless systems with posts may be more practical. Our glazier will assess your site and recommend the best approach.
We use 12mm toughened safety glass (AS/NZS 2208 certified) for frameless pool fencing, and 8mm or 10mm for semi-frameless systems. All glass is tempered to resist impact and break safely if damaged.
Glass pool fencing requires minimal maintenance. Rinse periodically with fresh water (especially in coastal areas) and clean with soapy water and a squeegee. Check spigot fixings annually and reseal any ground-level silicone as required.
