Picture Frame Glass in East Auckland
Choosing the Right Picture Frame Glass
Standard clear 2mm glass suits most framing applications. Non-reflective glass reduces distracting glare but has slight reduction in clarity — best used when glass sits directly on the mount. UV-protective glass blocks up to 99% of UV radiation — essential for valuable artworks, original photographs, and watercolours exposed to sunlight. Museum glass combines both non-reflective and UV-protective properties.
Picture Frame Glass Measurement Guide
Measure the inside of the frame rebate (width and height). Subtract 1.5–2mm from each dimension. For a 300mm x 400mm rebate, order 297mm x 397mm glass. Alternatively bring your old broken glass as a template, or bring the frame to our workshop and we’ll measure and cut on the spot in most cases.
Picture Frame Glass FAQs
Measure the inside of the frame rebate and subtract 1.5–2mm from each dimension for clearance. If replacing old glass, the old piece itself is the most accurate template.
Non-reflective glass reduces surface reflections but does not protect from UV. UV glass is clear but blocks UV radiation that fades artworks. Museum glass combines both.
